In the Flower Pot Hotel’s two public bars you will find a collection of taxidermy including cased fish adorning the walls, keeping the character of the old pub.  The restaurant has a more contemporary collection, including works by Michael Olsen and Multi Award Winning Artist Danni Bradford.

The rich history has offered an excellent location for films and TV shows including Miss Marple and Pie in the Sky and is often visited by a number of celebrities.  Tom Jones has previously visited and Brigitte Nielsen when she was married to Sylvester Stallone.  As well as an episode of Pie in the Sky being shot at The Flower Pot Hotel, so was a four-hour long special called The Sculptress with Pauline Quirk.  Another visitor was footballer turned actor Vinnie Jones.

With an open log fire and picturesque garden with terrace, the Flowerpot is a pub for all seasons. Central to the Thames path and only five minutes walk to the river.

Henley On Thames train station, connecting to other rail networks via Twyford station, is 2.4 miles away.  Heathrow Airport is 35 minutes away by car, with flight connections to worldwide destinations.

Our History

The Flower Pot Hotel is a popular destination for both locals and tourists. The hotel is a great base for exploring Henley-on-Thames and the surrounding countryside.

Set in the quaint hamlet of Aston which is covered by the National Trust in an area of natural beauty, surrounded by the river, hills and full of natural wildlife.

Here are some of the most notable events in the history of the Flower Pot Hotel:

  • 1895: The hotel is built by Brakspear Brewery.

  • 1920s: The hotel becomes a popular destination for British royalty and aristocracy.

  • 1940s: The hotel is used as a military hospital during World War II.

  • 1950s: The hotel is renovated and modernised.

  • 1970s: The hotel is acquired by a new owner.

  • 1980s: The hotel undergoes another renovation.

  • 1990s: The hotel becomes a popular destination for celebrities and other VIPs.

  • 2000s: The hotel is awarded a number of prestigious awards, including a 5-star rating from Visit England.

  • 2010s: The hotel continues to be a popular destination for both locals and tourists.

  • 2022:  The hotel is acquired  by new owners with the old owners retiring after 30 years of service in October 2022.

  • 2023:   The hotel is beautifully renovated and returns to business as usual reopening it’s doors on Easter Friday, 7th April 2023.
